Professor, Department of Philosophy, Hamline University.Director, African American Studies Program. Paul Robert and Jean Shuman Hanna Chair in Philosophy. I am a professor of philosophy and the director of the African American Studies Program at Hamline University in Saint Paul, Minnesota. I also hold the Hanna Chair in Philosophy. I earned my B.A. (Hons) in 1985 from the University of Nairobi in Kenya. I received both my M.A. (1990) and Ph.D. (1995) degrees from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. My teaching, writing and research interests are in the areas of comparative philosophy, Africana philosophy, and social and political philosophy. I am the editor of The Hamline Review, a liberal arts journal published annually by the faculty of the College of Liberal Arts at Hamline University since 1968. Updated November 20, 2008
